29 Palms Christian Homeschool Co-op (29 PCHC) is a missional, Christ-centered homeschool community serving families in Twentynine Palms and the surrounding Morongo Basin.

We welcome homeschooling families from a variety of educational backgrounds, including both Christian and secular homeschoolers. Our co-op is firmly rooted in a biblical worldview and historic Christian faith. Every aspect of our meeting days—from our assembly and classroom devotions to our carefully planned lessons—is intentionally Christ-centered. We are not a private school and do not have paid staff. The word co-op  is short for the word “cooperative” which means all members of our group contribute to classroom instruction, events, and gatherings. We are entirely volunteer-led.

Our desire as a group is to encourage homeschooling parents while providing meaningful friendships for both parents and their students and offering enriching educational opportunities in a supportive community where children and families grow together in faith.

• $50 annual registration fee per family
• Fee is non-refundable
• You may request to visit the co-op once before paying the registration fee. If you are doing this, choose “pay later” at registration, but please know we require payment for continued attendance beyond your first visit. This helps us fund our amazing classes.

We're thankful that Palms Church has generously offered to match every registration dollar, helping provide classroom supplies and educational materials.

In addition to registration, a background check and completion of a mandated reporter training is required. More information about this will be discussed in orientation and emailed out to those who have registered.

We meet three Fridays each month during the school year from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at Palms Church.Each co-op morning begins together with:

• Announcements
• Pledge of Allegiance
• Hymn 
• Scripture reading
• Prayer
• Monthly birthday recognition

Following assembly, students move into age-based classrooms.Current classes include:

• Nursery/2s and 3s (for younger siblings only)
• Pre-K / Play-Based Kindergarten* (ages 4–5)
• Kindergarten Plus*, 1st–2nd Grade 
• 3rd–5th Grade
• 6th–12th Grade

New for the 2026-2027 school year, the elementary and middle school/ classrooms will study an age-appropriate question from the New City Catechism at the beginning of their class. The word “catechism” simply means “teaching.” Throughout Christian history, churches have used catechisms—questions and answers—to help children and adults learn the truths of Scripture and grow in their understanding of God.

29 PCHC is an enrichment-based homeschool co-op.

Rather than following one educational philosophy such as Charlotte Mason, Classical, or Traditional, our families represent many different homeschooling approaches. This means you do not have to follow any one particular curriculum at home in order to participate in our co-op.

Lessons are intentionally cross-curricular, combining multiple subjects into engaging, hands-on experiences.

Although we meet at church three Fridays each month, the fourth (or fifth) Friday is reserved for optional enrichment opportunities.

These may include:

• Knott’s Sky Park, a local playground in 29 Palms
• Local hikes in Joshua Tree and surrounding areas
• Service projects
• Educational field trips around the Morongo Basin

We're already planning another trip to Greenspot Farms this October—so don't visit the pumpkin patch without us!

We understand creating lessons from scratch is intimidating for many parents, especially if you’ve never taught before. However, our leadership team is here to support you. If you are a first time teacher:

• Complete lesson folders
• Worksheets
• Read-aloud books
• Games
• Videos
• Discussion questions

But we do ask for help and insight from the parent teaching. We want to know what you’re comfortable with first, and then we will go from there.

Parents are also welcome to teach subjects they are passionate about. We are happy to accommodate “career day” style lessons where a parent comes and talks about their career or a hobby they are skilled in. If you have a valuable skill such as playing a musical instrument, wilderness survival, first aid and CPR, auto mechanic work, scrapbooking, calligraphy, canning fruits and vegetables, baking pies, etc, we are happy to have you teach this skill and we can also provide worksheets or suggestions surrounding the topic if needed. We are also happy to purchase materials for your lesson if it is within our budget!

While our K-12 classes do not utilize a set curriculum this year, our combined preschool/play-based kindergarten program uses More Before Five in a Row curriculum, and books and craft materials are supplied upon request. Anyone teaching in the preschool/play-based kindergarten class is provided with lesson instructions in PDF format to review in advance. 

Returning families will teach during the first few weeks of the year before passing the baton to newer families, and additional parents will remain in each classroom to help with behavior, bathroom breaks, and classroom support. Our goal is to equip you but also see our families grow in confidence teaching as the year moves forward.
